Christmas Cookies Lyrics

Hark! The Herald Angels Sing

Hark the herald angles sing
Glory to the newborn King
Peace on Earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled
Joyful all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With angelic host proclaim
Christ is born in Bethlehem
Hark the herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King

Christ by highest heaven adored
Christ the Everlasting Lord
Late in time behold Him come
Offspring of the virgin's womb
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see
Hail the incarnate Deity
Pleased as man with men to dwell
Jesus our Emmanuel
Hark the herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King

Mild He lays His glory by
Born that man no more may die
Born to raise the sons of Earth
Born to give them second birth
Risen with healing in His wings
Light and life to all He brings
Hail the Son of Righteousness
Hail the heaven born Prince of Peace
Hark the herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King

Christmas Cookies

I sure do like those Christmas cookies sugar
I sure do like those Christmas cookies babe
The ones that look like Santa Claus
Christmas trees bells and stars
I sure do like those Christmas cookies babe

Now those Christmas cookies are a special treat
The more she bakes the more I eat
And sometimes I just can't get myself to stop
Sometimes she waits till I'm asleep
And then she'll take the ones that I don't eat
And put those little sprinkly things on top

Now those sprinkly things just make things worse
'Cause it makes'em taste better than they did at first
And I'm just thoroughly unable to resist
Some disappear to who knows where
But I make sure that I get my share
And those kids just stand there waiting for the ones I miss

I sure do like those Christmas cookies sugar
I sure do like those Christmas cookies babe
She gets mad if they're all gone
Before she gets the icing put on
I sure do like those Christmas cookies babe

Now there's a benefit to all of this
That you might have overlooked or missed
So now let me tell you the best part of it all
Every time she sticks another batch in the oven
There's fifteen minutes for some kissin' and a-huggin'
And that's why I eat Christmas cookies all year long

From Love To Love

Little mama has a baby that she's too young to keep
Little mama makes a big decision it makes her weak
Oh it makes her weak

A new mama gets a baby she just can't believe
Prayers have been answered and it makes her weak
Oh it makes her weak

And the child goes from love to love
From wanted to wanted
Don't you know angels sing above
When someone goes from love to love

A proud mama pins a rose on a rented tux
Her boy's gettin' married she can barely look up
Tears runnin' she can barely look up

A proud mama slides a bobby pin in a long white veil
Time to give her little girl away and she tries to smile
Tears runnin' she tries to smile

And the girl goes from love to love
From wanted to wanted
Angels sing above
When someone goes from love to love

A long time ago her daddy left behind
His only baby in a little town one night
All the new mom went to see was beauty lyin' in her arms
But the eyes of Heaven could see a cross

And the child went from love to love
From wanted oh to wanted
Angels sing above
When He went from love to love

'Cause when a child goes from love to love
From wanted to wanted
Angels sing above
When He went from love to love

Away In A Manger

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed
The little Lord Jesus lay down His sweet head
The stars in the sky looked down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay

The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes
But little Lord Jesus no crying He makes
I love You Lord Jesus, look down from the sky
And stay by my cradle till morning is nigh

Be near me Lord Jesus I ask You to stay
Close by me forever and love me I pray
Bless all the dear children in Thy tender care
And fit us for Heaven to live with You there

Hay Baby

Hay baby

Precious child baby King
Love and hope is what You bring
All creation celebrates
Welcome to the world You made

Hay baby, can You hear the angels as they praise Your name
Hay baby, born in a manger on Christmas day

Prophets said this day would come
God would send His only Son
You arrived in a humble way
Even wise men were amazed

Shepherd came from near and far
Following that brand new star
The barn became a holy place
They saw heaven face to face

Little Annie's Christmas Wish

Little Annie never had a Christmas, her family was too poor
While walking by she saw a sign at the local department store
It said, "Just around the corner old Santa's on his way
He'll be here soon, tomorrow at noon" little Annie couldn't wait

She stood in line and when it came her turn
She climbed up on his knee
When Santa heard what she had to say
A tear rolled down his cheek

She said there's lots of things I'd like to see
Like a brand new bike beneath the tree
A dolly smiling back at me
But the thing I want the most
Then she whispered in his ear soft and low, she said

Christmas morning rolled around and she woke up with the sun
She ran straight to the window if Santa Claus had come
There was no sign of reindeer hoofs, no gifts of any kind
Then she heard a knock upon the door and she opened it to find

That poor little boy from across the road
With a new coat and new shoes
Little Annie jumped for joy and yelled
"My Christmas wish came true!"

She said there's lots of things I'd like to see
Like a brand new bike beneath the tree
A dolly smiling back at me
But the thing I wanted most
Was to see the kids with less than me
Find gifts beneath their Christmas tree
Happiness and joy would be
The first thing on my list
A selfless dream came true
Little Annie's Christmas wish

I'll Be Home For Christmas
(originally appeared on Country Christmas Eve,
this is a newly recorded version)

I'm dreaming tonight of a place I love
Even more than I usually do
An although I know it's a long road back
I promise you

I'll be home for Christmas
You can count on me
Please have snow and mistletoe
And presents under the tree

Christmas Eve will find me
Where the love light gleams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams

Blessed Be The Day (Of Our Saviour's Birth)

Blessed be the day of our Saviour's birth
Down from Heaven He came
To teach us of our worth
Hope is not forsaken now
The light has shined on Earth
Blessed be the day of our Saviour's birth

Try as we may to make it on our own
We all need a helping hand
To show us where we're goin'
Back in the days when the wise men walked the land
A little child was sent to us
To help us understand

There in the manger He lay with a bed
And love was the message
He brought with Him to spread
So raise up your voices
Let your hearts be glad
And sing out your praises
For the child from Bethlehem

Jingle Bells

Jingle bells jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh

Dashing through the snow
In a one-horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on bobtails ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to laugh and sing
A sleighing song tonight, oh

A day or two ago
I thought I'd take a ride
And soon Miss Fanny Bright
Was seated by my side
The horse was lean and lank
Misfortune seemed his lot
We got into a drifted bank
And then we got upsot, oh

Ordinary Days

If I had my wish this Christmas
I'd only want one single thing
To find the ones who needed what I take for granted
And give good days away like I was Santa

To that little girl who's hungry
I'd give November 26th
Leftover turkey with the family
Oh my jeans would hardly fit
I'd like to reach around the world
This Christmastime
And give her one of my
Extraordinary ordinary days

I'd give any given Sunday
To people down and out of faith
And pray I wouldn't only feel this way in December
'Cause my year's too full of blessings to remember

So to the homeless man who's freezin'
I'd give October 29th
First fire of the season
My love sittin' by my side
I'd like to reach around the world
This Christmastime
And give'em one of my
Extraordinary ordinary days

And to all the sad and lonely
I'd give that Saturday in May
When the neighbors got together
For a barbecue and a softball game
I'd like to reach around the world
This Christmastime
And give'em one of my
Extraordinary ordinary days

Uncle Luther Made The Stuffin'

Hanging my stocking on the mantelpiece
Mary puttin' tinsel on the Christmas tree
Granny cuttin' cookies, pies bakin' in the oven
Mama cooked the turkey, Uncle Luther made the stuffin'

David and neighbors are a-shoveling snow
Vickie wrapping presents with pretty red bows
Grandpa makin' eggnog, popcorn is a-puffin'
Mama cooked the turkey, Uncle Luther made the stuffin'

Artie from the army's comin' home tonight
Crazy cousin Eddie stringin' up the lights
Sarah and her boyfriend, kissin' and a-huggin'
Mama cooked the turkey, Uncle Luther made the stuffin'

Daddy sittin' in his favorite chair
Tryin' to lead the family in a word of prayer
Jenny in the kitchen, sneakin' and a-munchin'
Mama cooked the turkey, Uncle Luther made the stuffin'

Anna on piano playin' Christmas songs
Tryin' to get the family just to sing along
Children all believin' that Santa is a-comin'
Mama cooked the turkey, Uncle Luther made the stuffin'

Times they are a-changin'
People keep a-movin'
I never will forget those family reunions
Christmastime was really somethin'
When Mama cooked the turkey, Uncle Luther made the stuffin'

That sure was some mighty fine stuffin'

Back To Tennessee

Christmas Eve all alone
Thinking about the folks back home
Through the pines I hear that lonesome wind blow
Cider's hot, drink my fill
Red oak fire to break the chill
Thoughts of home reflected in my window

For several weeks the creek's been froze
Can't get out the roads are closed
It's been quite a spell of nasty weather
It's my favorite time of year
But home's a thousand miles from here
I wish so much that we were all together

I can see us 'round the Christmas tree
Snowflakes fallin', my heart's callin' me
Back to Tennessee

A blanket of new fallen snow
Has covered up the undergrowth
The mountainside is flowing in the moonlight
Though it's a picture perfect scene
I close my eyes and still I dream
Of being home in Tennessee tonight

The Warmest Night Of The Year

Here we are on Christmas Eve
The weatherman says it could be
The coldest night since 1965
As we watch the fallin' snow
I feel the summer breezes blow
Here in your arms, it's so warm tonight

There's a light in your eyes
A look on your face
Like an ember in the fireplace
Forever flames that will never disappear
Outside the snow is piling up
But in this room when we touch
We're in love on the warmest night of the year

I drew a heart, I wrote our name
In the frost on the window pane
It smiled and said "It's so right with you"
Nothing to read between the lines
I can clearly see the signs
Leading down a road of love so true

O Come All Ye Faithful

O come all ye faithful joyful and triumphant
O come ye O come ye to Bethlehem
Come and behold Him, born the King Of Angels
O come let us adore Him O come let us adore Him
O come let us adore Him, Christ The Lord

Sing choirs of angles, sing in exultation
O sing all ye citizens of Heav'n above
Glory to God in the highest heaven
