Revival Vol. I Lyrics

Joshua Fit The Battle Of Jerico

Joshua fit the battle of Jericho, (yeah) Jericho, (yeah) Jericho
Joshua fit the battle of Jericho
And the walls came a-tumblin' down

Well good mornin' sister Mary
Good morning brother John
Well let me tell you 'bout the story of Joshua
He was the son of Nun

Well they say ol' Joshua's spear
Was better than five feet long
And upon his hip was a double edged sword
And his mouth was a gospel song

Well up to the walls of Jericho he marched with his spear in hand
"Go blow those trumpets!" Joshua cried
"'Cause the battle is in my hands!"

Then the lamb ram sheep horns began to blow
And trumpets began to sound
Ol' Joshua commanded the children to shout
And the walls come tumblin' down

This Little Light Of Mine

Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, oh yeah

This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine

Hide it under a bushel, no, I'm gonna let it shine

I won't let Satan blow it out, I'm gonna let it shine

I'll let it shine till Jesus comes, I'm gonna let it shine

Farther Along
(originally appeared on The Oak Ridge Quartet (1959),
this is a newly recorded version)

Tempted and tried we're oft made to wonder
Why it should be thus all the day long
While there are others living about us
Never molested though in the wrong

Farther along we'll know all about it
Farther along we'll understand why
Cheer up my brother live in the sunshine
We'll understand it all by and by

When we see Jesus coming in glory
When he comes from his home in the sky
Then we shall meet him in that bright mansion
We'll understand it all by and by

I Feel Like Travelin' On

My heavenly home is bright and fair
I feel like traveling on
No pain nor death can enter there
I feel like traveling on

I feel like traveling on
I feel like traveling on
My heavenly home is bright and fair
I feel like traveling on

Let others seek a home below
I feel like traveling on
Which flames devour or waves o'er flow
I feel like traveling on

The Lord has been so good to me
I feel like traveling on
Until that blessed home I see
I feel like traveling on

I Love To Tell The Story

I love to tell the story of unseen things above
Of Jesus and his glory, of Jesus and his love
I love to tell the story because I know 'tis true
It satisfies my longing as nothing else would do

I love to tell the story, 'twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and his love

I love to tell the story, more wonderful it seems
Than all the golden fancies of all our golden dreams
I love to tell the story, it did so much for me
And that is just the reason I tell it now to thee

I love to tell the story for those who know it best
Seem hungering and thirsting to hear it like the rest
And when in scenes of glory I sing the new new song
'Twill be the old old story that I have loved so long

On The Jerico Road

As you travel along on the Jericho Road
Does the world seem all wrong and heavier load
Just bring it to Christ your sins all confess
On the Jericho Road your heart He will bless

On the Jericho Road there's room for just two
No more and no less, just Jesus and you
Each burden He'll bear each sorrow He'll share
There's never a care for Jesus is there

Oh my brother to you this message I bring
Though the world seem all wrong He can cause you to sing
Let Jesus come in sin's shackles must fall
On the Jericho Road will you answer his call

Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus

’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus
And to take Him at His Word
Just to rest upon His promise
And to know, “Thus saith the Lord!”

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus
Oh for grace to trust Him more

Oh, how sweet to trust in Jesus
Just to trust His cleansing blood
And in simple faith to plunge me
’Neath the healing, cleansing flood

I'm so glad I learned to trust Him
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend
And I know that Thou art with me
Will be with me to the end

The Old Gospel Ship

I have good new to bring
And that is why I sing
All my joys with you I'll share
Oh I'm gonna take a trip
In the old gospel ship
And go sailing through the air

Well I'm gonna take a trip
In the old gospel ship
I'm going far beyond the sky
Oh I'm gonna shout and sing
Until all heavens bring,
When I'm bidding this world goodbye

Oh I can scarcely wait
I know I'll not be late
For I'll spend my time in prayer
And when my ship comes in
I'll leave this world of sin
And go sailing through the air

Oh if you're ashamed of me
You have no cause to be
For with Christ I am an heir
And if too much fault you find
You're sure to be left behind
When I go sailing through the air

Where Could I Go But To The Lord

Living below in this old sinful world
Hardly a comfort can afford
Striving alone to face temptation's sword
Where could I go but to the Lord

Where could I go, oh where could I go
Seeking a refuge for my soul
Needing a friend to help me in the end
Where could I but go to the Lord

Neighbors are kind, I love them everyone
We get along in sweet accord
But when my soul needs manna from above
Where could I go but to the Lord

Life here is grand with friends I love so dear
Comfort I get from God's own Word
Yet when I face this chilling hands of death
Where could I go but to the Lord

In The Garden
(originally appeared on Hymns,
this is a newly recorded version)

I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses

And He walks with me and He talks with me
And He tells me I am His own
And the joy we share as we tarry there
None other has ever known

He speaks and the sound of His voice
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing

I Saw The Light

I saw the light, I saw the light
No more in darkness, no more in night
Now I’m so happy, no sorrow in sight
Praise the Lord, I saw the Light

I’ve wandered so aimless, life filled with sin
I wouldn’t let my dear Savior in
Then Jesus came like a stranger in the night
Praise the Lord, I saw the Light

Just like a blind man I wandered alone
Worries and fears I claimed for my own
Then like a blind man that God gave back his sight
Praise the Lord, I saw the Light

Well I was a fool to wander and stray
Straight is the gate and narrow's the way
Now I have traded the wrong for the right
Praise the Lord, I saw the Light

What A Friend We Have In Jesus

What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer

Oh what peace we often forfeit
Oh what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer

Have we trials and temptations
Is there trouble anywhere
Now we should never be discouraged
Take it to the Lord in prayer

Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share
Jesus knows our every weakness
Take it to the Lord in prayer

Are we weak and heavy laden
Cumbered with a load of care
Precious Savior still our refuge
Take it to the Lord in prayer

Do thy friends despise, forsake thee
Take it to the Lord in prayer
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee
Thou wilt find a solace there
